Aussie Millions 2012 $100,000 Challenge Final

Aussie Millions 2012 $100,000 Challenge concluded for two days packed with action. Dan Smith emerged on the top and collect the lion’s hare of the 2.2 million prize pool. Mikhail Smirnov came second with AUD$616,000 payout.  

22 players paid $100,000 buy-I the day before and only eight advanced into the final with no guaranteed money at that stage as the prize pool was set up to be distributed between the top four players. Nan Le, Sam Trickett, Sorel Mizzi and Gus Hansen were all eliminated before the bubble was burst.

Tony G finished in the forth place with AUD$242,000 prize. He was defeated by Smith when his Ah, 6h could not stand up to As, Qh of the future champion.

Joe Hachem was eliminated in the third place earning AUD$330,000. I his last hand Hachem went all in with Ac, 9c against As, Ts of Smith’s. Hatchem managed to get a set on nines from the board but it was overrun by Smith’s spade flush.

Soon after the heads up began Smith doubled up when his pocket jacks ran in to Smirnov’s pocket tens. Smirnov fought back though and for a long time the game was even with chips passing from one player to the other and no established chip leader. Finally Smith managed to take control with his pocket sixes stood against his opponent’s Ac, Qd. And then in the final hand Smith’s pocket deuces overcame Smirnov’s Qh, 6h to earn him the title and AUD$1,012,000 ereward.
