Michael Benvenuti fell the first victim of the day. Being in the cut off position he began with 3,500. Rettenmaier called from the big blind. Both players checked on the flop of Kd, 9c, 4s. The turn brought Qd and Rettenmaier bet 3,800. Benvenuti called and Ks came on the river. After some thought Rettenmaier moved all his remaining chips into the middle of the table. Benvenuti thought for a long time and the clock was brought in, finally he called and Rettenmaier turned over Kc, 3c for a set of kings. Benvenuti mucked and busted out in the tenth place.

Andrew Scarfe was the next to go when his Ah, Qs could not stand against Krost’s pocket eights.

The very next had after Scarfe’s elimination change the course of the game. First the action folded to Rettenmaeir on the button who raised to 4,200. Karamalikis in the big blind pushed 10,600 chips into the middle. Rettenmaier four-bet to 22,900 but Karamialikis shoved all-in for 101,900 chips. Rettenmaier called. The pot of 205,000 chips was in the middle of the table.

Karamalikis opened pocket jacks and Rettenmaier, with Ad, 9d was in trouble. The flop of 6c, 9c, 6d first gave Rettenmaier some hope, Qh on the turn was a blank for both players but Js on the river reduced start of the day chip leader to a very short stack.

Unfortunately for him after losing that pot Rettenmaier could not recover. In his final hand his Ac, Qd came across Krost’s pocket queens. The board did not bring an ace and Rettenmaier headed to the cashier in the eights place.

Tony Sama was the next to go after his Ad, Td could not stand to Mike Watson’s pocket eights.

Collopy became the next elimination when he raised to 6,000 from under the gun and Kelly three-bet to 13,300. Collopy then pushed all in with 50,000 and Kelly called. At the showdown Kelly opened pocket kings and Collopy held pocket tens. Collopy desperately needed a ten, which was the first card of the flop, however it was soon followed by the king and a two. As both players had a set at the time only another ten could save Collopy but 9h came on the turn and 8h came on the river. Collopy left the table in the sixth place with AUD$25,380 payout..

Mike Watson was the next to hit the rail when his As, Kd could not stand against Kelly’s flopped flash.

Krost exited in the forth place when he was all in preflop with Qh, 9h against Kelly’s Ad, Jd and the board of Ac, 5s, 9s, Jh, 6c. The former Aussie Millions champion left the room with AUD$40,185 pay out to take his place next door in the 10th Anniversary Tournament of Champions which started an hour earlier.

The three way game was intense with chips going from one player to the next. Kelly was next to go in the thrird place when he pushed all in preflop with Qh, 9h to be called by Pedley with Ah, 5h the board of 8h, Js, 8c, 7c, Kd was a blank and Kelly joined his supporters at the rail with UAD$57,105 prize money.

The heads up was short although both players were aggressive. Finally Pedley established a good chip lead and called when Karamalikis went all in with 117,000 chips. Pedly showed Kd, Jh against Karamalikis’ Ks, Tc the board of 4d, 2d, 4h,3s, Jc awarded Pedley the top prize and the  title for the second time in the past five years.
