Aussie Millions 2012 Main Event Day 2 started on Wednesday and because of some late registrations the total number of participants in the Main Even is now officially 659 players. The total prize pool now stands with UAD$6.59 million and AUD$1.6 millions is the first place prize.

Former Main Event champions Stewart Scott, Gus Hunsen, Lee Nelson, Tyron Krost came back for Day 2 but only Nelson survived through the day. Scott, 2009 Main Event champion, was the first to go when he went all in with remaining 36,000 chips with Ad, 9h to pocket kings of his opponent. The board did not help Scott and his Main Event participation in 2012 came to an early end.

A few days earlier Krost won a lifetime buy-in into the Main Events by taking down the 10th Anniversary Tournament of the Champions. He finished this year’s run early on Day 2.

Gus Hansen chose not to play in Days 1 and join the action through late registrations on Day 2. This tactic however did not help him much as Tony G sent the Great Dane to the rail. . "Gus always wants to move in, and I trapped him!" said proud Tony G later.

In that hand Aage Ravn started with a raise to 2,500. Tony G with Ah, Kh, on the small blind, called and Hansen, on the big blind, raised to 10,000. Ravn quickly folded and Tony G reraised and pushed all-in. Hansen called. The board completely blanked and Hansen’s Main Event participation was finished a few hands after it began.

Soon after Jason Mercier was sent through the door when his Ah, Ks could not stand up to Tom Grigg’s pocket eights. Other famous players who did not survive the day included JP Kelly, Tom Dwan, JC Tran, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Vitaly Lunkin, James Dempsey, Annett Obrestad, David Bach and Van Marcus.

74 players advanced into Day 3 and Tim O’Shea is at the top of the leaderboard with 921,000 chips. He gain a huge chip lead as a result of one hand with a massive pot just an hour before the end of the day. In this hand O’Shea began from under the gun and played against Josh Barrett on the big blind. On the flop of 3, 5, 7 the raising war began, 4 came on the turn, Barrett checked first, O’Shea bet 125,000 and Barrett called. The river came with an ace and O’Shea opened A, 6 for a straight. Barrett was visibly disappointed with, 5, 7 for a two pair.

Other well-known players at the top of the leadreboard are Phil Ivey, 778,500 chips, Ravn with 708,500, Jason Koon with 667,500, Oliver Speidel with 540,000 and Patrick Healy with 521,000.
