Such huge turn out at the last entry Day of Event 1 is due to repechage format of this event, which game many players eliminated at earlier days an opportunity to try again. Amongst players who took advantage of this feature were Sorel Mizzi, Daniel Kelly, Daniel Nelson and Simon Watt. Unfortunately for them even multiple attempts did not lead into success and they all failed to advance into Day 2.
The action on Day 1c began slowly and it took nearly half of the day for a chip lead to get established. Jay Kinkade was the first player to move ahead of the rest. Kinkade is known for his success in online tournaments however over the past few years he showed that his is a dangerous opponent in the live events too.
The breakthrough for Kinkade happened when he flopped a set of nines with 10, 9 and got the full value of his hand from an opponent with pocket fives. He then held to the chip lead for most of the day. However the action in the evening moved towards other players at the same table. Tony Dalavinias and Rob Angood both collected massive chip stacks sand David Yan bagged up the second largest stack of the day.
Delavinias’ final chip lead was largely due to just one massive pot when he flopped an Ace to paid his A, K and overtake his opponents pocket kings. His final chip count put Delavinias into the fourth place overall.
