Benny Spindler came out the winner of the European Poker Tour EPT London 2011 after he overcame Steve O’Dwyer in heads-up in a full of action day of the final table.
Spindler started his EPT London 2011 journey on Day 1b, when he finished in the chip lead of the day and throughout the event he continually found himself at the top of the leaderboard. Spindler began the final table third in chips and soon regained the chip lead after catching Mattias Bergstrom’s big bluff.
In that hand with the blinds of 30,000/60,000 and 5,000 ante Sindler raised to 120,000 from the first position, everyone else folded but Bergstrom, on the big blind, called. The flop came with Ks, 9c, 8s. Bergstrom checked, Spnidler bet and got check raised. The turn opened 3d and Bergstrom bet 700,000. Spindler called and the dealer opened As on the river for a possibility of a flush draw. Bergstrom bet the same 700,000 and Spindler called. Bergstrom opened 5d, 4s, a huge bluff that backfired, to see Spindler’s Ad, 9d for a two pair and a massive pot of chips.
Soon later in the game Sindler got another big pot from the chip leader at the start of the day Martins Adeniya to increase his chip count even further. In this hand Bergstrom started with a raise of 150,000. Other player folded to Spindler, who was on the button and called. Adeniya, on the big blind, raised to 475,000 and Bergstrom folded. Spindler thought for a while and pushed all in. Adeniya called and created a massive pot of over seven million chips. Adeniya opened As, Kc against Spindler’s pocket tens. The board of Jc, 8c, 3h, 2s, Jh completely missed both players and Spindler’s pocket tens brought him even bigger chip lead and sent Adeniya to the rail in the seventh place.
Kevin Iacofano was the next to leave the table, followed by Bergstrom in the 5th place when Js, 10s failed to stand against O’Dwyer’s pocket tens. Juan Pastor hit the rail in the 4th place, leaving Andre Klebanov, O’Dwyer and Spindler at the table. O’Dwyer busted Klebanov in the 3rd place but even when the heads up started he was two to one down on chips, with Spindler’s 13.49 million against O’Dwyer’s 7.145 million.
Heads up lasted just a couple of hands when both players went all in. O’Dwyer pushed with Ks, Jc to see Spindler’s Ac, Kd. An Ace came on the flop and crowned Spindler the champion awarding him with his biggest win in his career.
