Day 1B became a record breaking day for EPT Prague 2011. Day 1a, which took place on Monday, drew 234 players to the felt, however Day 1b attracted huge 488 players making the total field in Prague of 722 players. This was by far the biggest poker event hosted in the Czech Republic.
274 players survived the day and Andrey Saenko is leading the field with 200,800 stack. He is the only player so far to get over 200 thousand chips. This huge stack is largely because of such vast number of players in the Day 1b allowed the top players to accumulate far bigger stacks than those on the Day 1a. Day 1a chip leader Vedzizhev Beslan finished with 132,200 chips.
Well-known players from Day 1b included Liv Boeree, Bertrand Grospellier, Jude Ainsworth, Jonathan Duhamel, Lex Veldhuis, Luca Pagano. Pius Heinz, 2011 WSOP champion, was also at the felt. Unfortunately for him things did not go well on the day, when in a three-way pot his pocket tens came across Dominik Nitsche's pocket jacks. Heinz was left with just 10 big blinds in chips and busted out short time later.
Arnaud Mattern, Ivan Demidov, Johannes Strassmann, Salvatore Bonavena, Dario Minieri all hit the rail during the course of the day. With such big playing field elimination came at a lightening speed allowing other players build significant chip stacks throughout the day. Ramez Haddad from Lebanon became the first player to go over 100 thousand mark early in the day. He was soon followed by Anton Wigg from Sweden at the next table. Max Silver worked up his chips to 177,100 and is in the third place on the leaderboard. Other well known players who finished in good positions are Mads Wissing 178,300 chips Jude Ainsworth 151,700 chips, William Thorson 133,400 chips, Melanie Weisner 123,600 chips, Ville Wahlbeck 121,500 chips, and Liv Boeree 108,700 chips.
EPT Prague 2011 Day 2 will kick off on Wednesday at 12:00 CET when 133 players from Day 1a will join the survivers from Day 1b making the total field for Day 2 407 players.
