WSOPE 2011 Event 1, Day 3 and Event 2 Day 1b

By Julia, 10, October, 2011 - 19:17

WSOPE 2011 Event 1 €2,680 Six Max No Limit Texas Holdem Day 3.

360 players took part in the Event 1 €2,680 Six Max No Limit Texas Holdem of the WSOP 2011. They created a prize pool of €864,000 and the top prize of €215,999. Guillaume Humbert from Switzerland began the day in chip lead and finished it as a champion, claiming the main prize and the champion’s WSOPE bracelet. The game took nearly 12 hours to establish the winner.

Roy Finley began his game at the final table as an unstoppable one-man wrecking machine. He single handily sent to the rail David Benyamine in the 12th place, Anton Wigg 11th, Bruno Benveniste 10th.

Casey Kastle left in the 9th place, followed by Alexander Salabaschew in the 8th. This elimination made the final bubble. The unfortunate bubble boy happened to be Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth, 11 times WSOP champion started the day second in chips with all the hopes for the top prize. The cards however fif not help Hellmuth and although he doubled up in the first round from Adrien Allain, his game did not go much further until he finally blinded away and left in the seventh place.

Marton Czuczor was the first one to go from the final table in the 6th place, he was sent home by Azusa Maeda. Maeda than carried on and eliminated Adrien Allain in the 5th place. Allain was followed by Matan Krakow and Roy Finley leaving Humbert and Maeda in the heads-up to fight for the title.

The heads-up was intense, in the last hand of the game with the flop of 9c, 7d, 6d Hambert checked and Maeda pushed all in. Humbert, holding 5c, 8h for a straight called. With 4h on the turn Maeda,  Holding 4d, 3d was drawing dead.

WSOPE Event 2, €1,090 No Limit Texas Holdem, Day 1b

Day 1b of the Event 2 of €1,090 No Limit Texas Holdem attracted 390 players. This together with 381 players from Day 1a made the record breaking 771 players for the largest WSOPE in history. Such attendance smashed all the records including the 2009 £1,000 event where 608 players took part. Yannick Autaa finished the day in the lead with 60,000 chips and Eric Baudry follows him close behind with 58,300 chips.

Once again plenty of notables were seen at the tables including Vanessa Selbst, Roberto Romanello, John Eames, Tyler Kenney and Peter Jetten, all moving forward into Day 2. Unfortunately Bryan Devonshire, James Bord, Sam Trickett, Bryn Kenney, Michael Mizrachi and Jeff Linsandro hit the rail during the course of the day.

The winner of Day 1a Andrew Hinrichsen will be leading the field of 104 players in Day 2 with 63,900 chips in the bag.
