WSOPE 2011, Event 2 €1,090 No Limit Texas Holdem

104 players hoping for the victory took their seats at Event 2 of WSOP 2011 on Day 2. Eliminations were brutaly fast and furious at the start of the day. The first casualty of the day was Peer Jetten, who did not make it further than the first hand, although to be fair he began the day with only 6,000 chips. Other early victims included, Richard Toth, Dan Shak, Farzad Bonyadi and Matt Waxman, the new WPT champion. Those  players went straight to Even 3 to make the best use of the spare time.

After the first few rounds it seemed that Event 2 was going for a monster final table, however as the day went on more and more well-known players went through the door. First Vanessa Selbst, who had her pocket queens beaten by A, Q, then Kevin Phee, McLean Karr, Nicolas Chouity, Tyler Kenney, Dan Kelly, Toby Lewis and one of November Niners Eoghan O’Dea. O’Dea was eliminated after his pocket aces collided with Ricardo Pereira’s A, K, unfortunately for O’Dea two kings turned up on the flop and sent O’Dea out of the door hoping the same bad beat is not going to happen in November this year.

The action stopped with the nine players remaining. Gianluca Speranza from Italy is leading with 757,000 chips. His is facing a strong opposition. Andrew Hinrichsen, who seems to be the betting favorite, will begin Day 3 in the second place with 434,000.  Roberto Romanello, who had a very strong chip stack throughout the day, is now third on the leaderboard.  Romanello has more than just the money prize to win at this event, already crowned with a WPT and EPT titles, he can become the fifth player in poker history to gain the Triple Crown.

WSOP 2011 Event 3, €5,300 Pot Limit Omaha, Day 1

Event 3, Day 1, €5,300 Pot Limit Omaha, started at Hotel Majestic Barriere, Cannes, France and the field was covered with super stars of the poker world.180 four-car loving players registered for the game and made the prize pool of €882,000. Day 1 took eight levels and at the end of the action Shannon Shorr came on top with 166,400 chips.

Shorr, who up to date has made nearly $4 million in live events earnings, began on the high by sending to the rail Fabrizio Gonzalez and Dan Kelly during the early rounds of the event. He carried on sailing through Day 1 and gained the top position on the leaderboard at the end of the day.

Sam Trickett, who is having a fantastic year so far, was playing top poker and secured the chip lead by the dinner break gaining more and more chips. At the same time players like Tom Dwan, Matt Giannetti, Patrik Antonius, Isaac Haxton, John Racener and Brian Hastings got busted during the early rounds. Trickett started to topple later in the evening and David Williams was there to take over his mantle. First Williams sent home Hasan Anter, a WSOP bracelet holder, than he took head to head with Elie Payan for most part of the evening, fighting over the chip lead.

49 players will be coming back for Day 2 of the Event 3.Other well-known player like Phill Hellmuth, Sam Stein, Jason Mercier and Erich Kollman will be returning to the tables ready to play for the top prize, the bracelet and the champion’s title.
