WSOPE 2011 Main Even, €10,400 No Limit Texas Holdem, Day 1a
310 players came to the tables for Day 1a of the Main Event in the WSOPE 2011, proving that controversial move from London to Cannes this year was a good decision. Last year the total field of the event consisted of 346 players that means that this year the first day nearly made the total number of participants in 2010. With more players to enter on Day 1b this year is expected to break all the attendance records. The previous record was set in 2007 and 2008 with 362 players.
165 players made it through the first day and Jamie Rosen with 162,700 chips is in the lead.

Erik, Seide, Matt Waxman, Sam Holden, Johnny Chan and Tristan Wade all made in the Day 2. Moorman saw a nice increase in his chip count when he busted out Jason Mercier, two time WSOP winner. In that hand Moorman’s Ac, Ks played against Mercier’s JJs, 10s and with the board of Kh, Jd, 4h, 5s, Qd Mercier was sent to the rail.
Phil Hellmuth, 11 times bracelet holder and WSOP Main Event winner in 1989, became another well-known victim of the day. Hellmuth went down to just 1,600 chips and with the blinds of 250/500, he raised to 1,100 holding Kh, 9s Michael Telker reraised to 2,800 and put Hellmuth all in. Telker opened Ac, 9c and with the board of completely missing both players Hellmuth was eliminated.
Other famous players who busted out on the day were Tom Dwan, Sam Stein, Joseph Cheong, Anton Makiievskiy, Justin Bonomo and Tyler Bonkowski.
